Understand what you need to get done

To do lists are a common feature created by Notion users and I am no exception to that. The most important concepts for me when creating a to-do list were to:

  • Keep it Simple
    • To keep it simple, I attached properties to each task but used the list view to understand what tasks are most important to me that day
  • Keep it Visible
    • To keep it visible, I displayed the list view on my home page. This way, I always knew what tasks I needed to get done and how much progress I made for that day
  • Make it easy to add more items
    • To make it easy to add more items, I created filtered, list views of the main to-do list database. So as I quickly added a new line item, the filters and default templates helped take care of setting properties

Why did I create this?

  • I've cycled through different forms of to do lists for the past 3 years. I've used different mediums, different apps, and a whole lot of paper. To Do lists to me need to be in my face, always accessible, and easy. Notion gave me the tools to do that

Who is it meant for?

  • Anyone! While I provide some basic templates, the main point of this template is to give the user an area to organize their information

What is included?

  • Backend Databases for your information
    • There are separate databases for your tasks and subtasks
  • Sandbox Environment
    • A working cope of how I use to do lists today
  • Documentation
    • Any good resource isn't complete without intense documentation to help you understand what you're looking at
